An Italian Red with Breakfast

Alright, so I’m not exactly suggesting a glass of red wine with breakfast here. Everyone knows that Champagne (mimosa) or my favorite, a white wine-mosa, is more appropriate.

This week’s pairing of the Italian red il Viziato  (The Spoiled One) and Breakfast at Tiffany’s seemed natural. There are few characters in cinema that are quite as spoiled as Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn). She is spoiled by an ex-mobster in prison, by her friends, and most of all, by her many gentleman callers. They give her 50 bucks to go to the powder room? Spoiled!

Tara Empson, one of the makers of il Viziato spent her life growing up around wine. Her parents are renowned exporters of Italian wine. With her wine-based upbringing, one could be led to believe that she is “the Spoiled One” referred to on the bottle. Not a bad life…

Speaking of the bottle, the design is inspired by the great fashion designers of Italy. A passion certainly shared by Holly Golightly.

This well-priced, every day red opens up and gains a  little spice after about an hour or so. Holly needs a fraction of the time to do the same.

Maybe wait ’til a little later in the evening, but spoil yourself with this appealing Italian red before heading off to one of Holly Golightly’s famous cocktail parties.
